And so far this show is delivering great commentary on the whole “being a classical musician” thing. Shigatsu understands this, (more of Kaori does). Do we play for others, or for our own joy? How do we want to play it? I swear that most musicians will eventually stumble across these questions someday and more likely so if they’re going professional or devoting their lives to music. Shigatsu’s greatness is that it poses very intricate and intrinsic questions to the whole idea of being a musician. A common variation of what people would say is to imagine the sound before you play it. I surely did not know the quote originated from Anton Rubinstein, (was it really?), but I hear piano teachers/friends say this all the time. When she mentioned the above quote I was like “god I have so heard that before somewhere”. Kaori strikes again with random music philosophy quotes. (to be fair, Chopin Etude op 25 no 5 is a really good choice, more on that later). Arima is supposed to join a piano competition and Kaori had took the liberty to select his piece for him. Episode 6 focuses on developing Tsubaki further while advancing the main plot. This episode proves that Shigatsu doesn’t need to rely on it’s full fledged orgasmic music performance scenes to shine. If this anime keeps this up it will be easily placed on the best anime ever kind of tier. At the rate this is going, this is not only going to be anime of the year level but something beyond that. This week’s episode 6 was just greatness. How is it possible that almost every single episode to date was such a masterpiece?
